E3 2014: ESRB Rates Dance Central: Spotlight

It’s less than three hours until Microsoft’s media briefing event but it seems some surprises have managed to make a leak early. Harmonix recently announced this year that they had “grand plans” for Dance Central and Rock band, and it seems they might be making good of these ambitions.

Submitted to the ESRB by Microsoft, the description for the game is as follows: –

Rating Summary: This is a rhythm-and-dance simulation game in which players perform dance steps by following the movements of on-screen characters. Players score points by accurately moving their bodies in time with the music and scrolling flashcards. Some song lyrics contain suggestive/sexual material (e.g., “Baby let me put your panties to the side I’mma make you feel alright,” “First class seat on my lap girl,” and “Tres, we can ménage a three though”). Other songs reference drugs and alcohol (e.g., “As we moonshine and molly” and “And I’m eating at the beat like you gave a little speed to a great white shark on shark week”).

We’ve no word if Harmonix will be the lead developer, but they’re almost finished with their other Xbox One Kinect exclusive, Fantasia, so there’s a good chance they might be. Whether the game will launch this year or not has yet to be seen, however.

For those wondering, from the lyrics, we can discern that the following songs will be making the playlist; –

Kid Ink – Show Me
Jason Derulo – Talk Dirty
Rihanna – Diamonds
Macklemore – Can’t Hold Us

We’re bound to get yet another bittersweet Kinect stage demo of sorts at the media briefing, so you can probably expect full details to surface around then. We’re not sure if the game is going to be ready for release this year or not, but given that it’s been submitted to the ESRB already means the game is probably quite far along already.
