Human Fall Flat 2 Has Been Delayed To 2026

Human Fall Short

Human Fall Flat 2, the sequel to 2016’s absurd, physics-driven cooperative puzzle game, has been pushed back to 2026. Yep – the year after next. Publisher Devolver Digital broke the news as part of its preliminary financial results for 2023, though didn’t offer any insight into the decision-making behind the delay.

“Human Fall Flat 2, the anticipated sequel to the global hit, will not now be released in 2025,” Devolver says in the press release. We remain very excited about this title which we believe will set us up for an even stronger 2026.”

The respected publisher of innovative indie joints has had a fair few of its upcoming titles slide out of their initially-expected release windows, with a number of titles originally pegged for 2023 now launching this year (or have already launched). Devolver addressed these in its report as well, saying the delays are part of a long-term decision to ensure it’s investing as much as possible on development, quality control and marketing for the games.

“During 2023 we took long-term – sometimes tough – decisions to get us back on track,” it said. “In particular, we pushed back high potential titles to 2024 that were supposed to land in 2023, such as The Plucky Squire, Anger Foot, Pepper Grinder and Stick It to the Stickman.  It was the right long-term decision to increase investment on development, quality control and marketing – and give them time – to give these titles the best possible chance of success.”

So far in 2024, Devolver has launched Reigns: Three Kingdoms, Reigns Beyond, Cricket Through the Ages, Phantom Abyss, Pepper Grinder and Children of the Sun. We scored Children of the Sun a solid 8.5/10 with Brodie saying, “As macabre as it is, Children of the Sun’s addictive leaderboard chase is sure to rekindle the competitive spirit in those who find themselves lapping up this world’s darkness after having ventured heavenward in Neon White.”
