Team Picks: Most Anticipated Games Of September

Team Picks is our monthly feature where members of the team get together to tell you about their most anticipated games of the upcoming month.

We shelved this feature very briefly in the past two months as there was hardly anything coming out, but now that the balls rolling again the team is ready to let you know what we’re looking forward to this month!

SeptemberPicks-Shannon01Disney Infinity: Marvel Super HeroesI was a huge fan of the first game and ended up collecting everything that I could. Marvel Super Heroes looks to improve on the game in every way imaginable. Whilst not being a huge Marvel fan, the Disney classic figures that have been revealed so far have really impressed me as a long-time Disney fan.

It’s really promising to see that the game has much more depth, both in it’s main themed adventures and throughout the Toy Box. I’m really interested to see how the game runs on the new generation of consoles. I played the original on the Wii U and didn’t play it as much as I would’ve liked due to poor performance. I can’t wait to get addicted to this all over again.

SeptemberPicks-BrodieSherlock Holmes: Crimes & PunishmentBeing a fan of both period piece adventure-crime game, L.A. Noire, and BBC’s television drama Sherlock, starring Benedict Cummerbund and Bilbo, I’m excited to see how Crimes and Punishment, Frogwares’ first foray into the newest generation of consoles starring the infamous resident of 221B Baker St, plays out.

I’m hoping Frogwares can test my powers of deduction as I place myself into the shoes of pop culture’s second greatest detective. The first is Batman. Obviously.

SeptemberPicks-DanielForza Horizon 2 – The original Forza Horizon is one of my favourite racers of all time, and really reinvigorated my love for the Forza Franchise. The second game is shaping up to be a really good open world racer.

SeptemberPicks-JakeHyrule Warriors – I am a Zelda fan right down to my very core. Each title is unique and offers something fresh and Hyrule Warriors looks to be no exception. Now headed for something totally new with a Dynasty Warriors flare to the popular Zelda franchise, I cannot wait to get my hands on this game!

SeptemberPicks-JoshuaDestiny – Unfortunately, I missed out on both the Destiny Alpha and Beta but it’s definitely the game of the month for me. It has that awesome trademark Bungie-esque attention to detail that I’ve grown to love from playing the Halo series. I can’t wait to get my hands on it on the day it comes out and explore the massive world they’ve cultivated for myself!

SeptemberPicks-JamesHyrule Warriors – September has been a really up and down month for me. First I was looking forward to Destiny, then the beta really dampered my expectations. Then I was looking forward to Dance Central Spotlight, but I realised, I’m not really looking forward to it as much as just having an iteration of the game that I don’t have to pull my old Kinect for. That’s not true love, is it?

So what game is my most anticipated this month? The answer was right in front of me the whole time, though I’ll admit I’m still pretty weary about it. Hyrule Warriors. What’s not to love about a hack and slash action game melded with elements and characters from the Zelda universe? It’s been a tough sell – I have been pretty vocal about my hate for the “Warriors” or “Musou” games, but it looks like there’s enough charm and fanservice packed into this package to make me a believer.

Hopefully I’m not wrong. I’ve got my expectations in check – I’m not expecting something with as much depth as games like Bayonetta, Devil May Cry or Metal Gear Rising. But I’m sure what will be provided will be a fun and serviceable romp.

SeptemberPicks-KevinThe Sims 4The Sims 4 is facing the tough task of following the disaster that was SimCity and beating the pre-release furor over supposed missing features and lack of gameplay elements from previous installments. Let’s hope this one won’t be put in the SimCity pile.

SeptemberPicks-MehdiDestinyI’ve always been a fan of Bungie’s work with Halo and my time with the Alpha and Beta has been nothing short of awesome. Whilst I wasn’t sure about the online only aspect at first it did manage to win me over after a few hours of gameplay.

The atmosphere and gameplay reminded me of what I used to love about Bungie, and renewed my interest in their work. It’s an online game at heart, but the great thing about it is that you’ll be able to have fun whatever way you choose to play: alone, with friends or with strangers.
