Microtransactions Introduced Within Forza Motorsport 6

Microsoft and Turn 10 have officially introduced a microtransaction system into Forza Motorsport 6, Microsoft’s latest entry into their flagship racing franchise. Labeled as the ‘Token’ system, the system adds the option for players to buy in-game currency through Xbox Live.

Ranging from price ranges of USD$1 to $100, players can purchase tokens to acquire in-game items such as cars and Mod packs, which serve as perks. Both were available prior to the addition of this system, but players will now be able to purchase these items without having to earn the in-game currency within the game itself.

Forza Motorsport 6 had previously launched without the Token system, much like its spun-off predecessor Forza Horizon 2, which also had the system implanted post-release. The system was met with mixed reaction in titles such as Forza Motorsport 5, but has since been present within every release either at or post-release.

Here is the official announcement that was made within Turn 10’s latest weekly update:

On Saturday, we’ll be activating tokens in Forza Motorsport 6, allowing players to purchase tokens which can be used for in-game items like cars and Mod packs. Players who do not wish to see the token feature in Forza Motorsport 6 menus will have the option to disable this feature from appearing by turning Tokens off in the HUD Options menu.

The system has been active as of Saturday. Forza Motorsport 6 is available exclusively on Xbox®One.
