GC2014: PS4 System Update 2.0 Introduces Share Play

Sony have finally detailed their first chunky update. Coming in Spring this year, software update 2.0 will further the social experience that Sony have tried to encompass since day one.

Share Play will let a friend join your game even when they don’t own a copy of it. If you’re stuck in a section of a game or simply want to verse them online, Share Play will apparently allow you to do this. It’s unclear whether there will be some sort of limit to how this works. You would think that another person wouldn’t be able to play through an entire game using your console.

Also announced was the ability to upload videos straight to YouTube and access a YouTube dedicated app. Lastly, Sony revealed that What’s New will finally get enhanced real-time activity through friend-of-friend suggestions.
