Mortal Kombat X Will Be Rated R18+ In Australia

While Australia has recently introduced an R18+ rating for video games, many will recall how the last game in the Mortal Kombat series enjoyed a controversial (and subsequently delayed) release due to the rating.

While the present ratings system in Australia seemed to make it obvious that Mortal Kombat X would release in Australia, there were resounding concerns that the game would still be refused classification due to it’s grotesque nature.

Thankfully, fans need not worry. The Australian Classification Board has awarded the game an R18+ rating.

As you’d expect, the violence is what seemed to contribute most to the game’s adult rating. An R18+ rating means that only adults aged 18 and over will be allowed to purchase the game.

Mortal Kombat X is released in Australia on April 15th, 2015.
