Heroes Brawl Is The Newest Heroes Of The Storm Game Mode

Blizzard is spicing up the state of play for their multidimensional MOBA Heroes of the Storm, with a new Brawl game type set to launch on October 17th.

According to the developer, “In a nutshell, Heroes Brawl is Heroes of the Storm, seen through the lens of delightful madness. Play on unique battlegrounds with surreal twists and with custom rulesets that turn everything you thought you knew about the game on its head. Take a break from the conquest of the Nexus, gather your friends, and check out what this new mode has to offer!”

Like the Brawl modes on Overwatch and Hearthstone, the typeset will change up every week – switching between standard battlegrounds with unique gameplay “mutators”, single-lane battlegrounds and brand new arena levels designed specifically for Brawl play.

Some of the examples Blizzard rattle off in their press release include a mode where everyone plays as Nova (and her Snipe acts as an instant kill) or Seargant Hammer and a points-based map where players take on waves of punishers.

Interestingly, the new mode comes with some notable changes to the way Hero selection works.

According to Blizzard, “For each brawl, you may either have preset heroes, you may shuffle (pick your hero from a custom lineup), or pure random.”

To entice both casual and hardcore Heroes players to dip their toes into the Brawl mode, there are a number of weekly rewards on the table.

Participation in three Brawls each week will net you 1000 gold, with further (and potentially unique) rewards also looking likely.

Heroes of the Storm’s Brawl mode hits the PTR on October 11th and launches the week of October 17th.
