During an interview with Japanese gaming news outlet 4Gamer, game designer, director, producer and creator of the Final Fantasy Series, Hironobu Sakaguchi, revealed that he is currently working on a new project that he hopes to reveal next year. Though there are no details at this stage, we know that Sakaguchi is working on a console version of Terra Battle, the well received co-op JRPG for mobile devices.
Earlier this year Sakaguchi announced a partnership between Mistwalker Corporation, of which he is president, and Silicon Studio, the Japanese developer behind the critically acclaimed Bravely Default series. It is unclear whether the aforementioned “new project” is a result of this partnership or not but with 2017 well on its way, hopefully, we will find out soon enough.
