The Last Guardian’s Creative Director Has Reflected On The Games Lengthy Development

The Last Guardian’s Creative Director, Fumito Ueda has spoken at length about the games incredibly long development period. Since being announced in 2009, we’ve been waiting patient for The Last Guardian was it shipped from PS3 to PS4 and had quite a drastic change in art style. One of the more telling quotes from the video is the fact that Ueda seems to mention that the PS3 was restricting what they wanted to do with the game from both a gameplay and graphical perspective.

It has now been confirmed that The Last Guardian will release on PS4 in 2016.

“For Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian we tried to create graphics that are not determined by the hardware specifications. In other words, the art does not really try to place a burden on the machine, or it doesn’t try to max it out. From that perspective, PS4 allows you to get to your goal much faster.”
