Overkill’s The Walking Dead Has Been Delayed Again

Unfortunately, Starbreeze has announced that Overkill’s The Walking Dead will be delayed until the second half of 2017. Overkill’s The Walking Dead is based on based on AMC’s hit show and the comic books of the same name, originally written by Robert Kirkman.

The game was initially announced in 2014, slated for a 2016 release and is described by the developers as “a co-op first person shooter with elements of action, role-playing, survival horror and stealth, that invites players to explore the hugely popular The Walking Dead universe, where they will play the role of survivors fending for themselves in a post-apocalyptic world dominated by flesh-eating walkers.” According to the studio, the team has decided to extend the production of the game to ensure that it reaches its full potential.

Together with Skybound Entertainment we are fully dedicated to releasing an unforgettable experience for fans throughout the world and then continue to support it with high-quality content in the coming years,” said Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson Klint.

Next week, May 10, 2017, the Overkill team will be hosting a live stream event via Twitch that will provide fans with insight into the development process. You can watch the stream here. At this point in time Overkill’s The Walking Dead is scheduled for release late 2018 on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
