According to Rod Fergusson, Studio Head of The Coalition, GOW fans will have to gear up for an 11GB day one patch if they have purchased a physical copy of the game.

Sadly dual layer Blu-ray discs are capable of storing a maximum of 50GB, meaning that the entirety of Gears of War 4 simply wouldn’t fit on a single BRD. If you’re eager to jump straight into the action on October 7, digital copies of the game are available for pre-purchase and pre-loading now from the Microsoft Store for AUD$99.95 for the standard edition or $139.95 for the ultimate edition, including the Gears of War 4 Season Pass. By pre-ordering the game from the Microsoft Store, players are entitled to an exclusive “Brothers to the End” Elite Gear Pack including several weapon and character skins.

Gears of War 4 is an Xbox Play Anywhere title which means that purchasing a digital copy of the game includes an additional copy of the game for Windows 10, free of charge.
