Following yesterday’s awkward leak from Amazon, Bethesda have today confirmed existence of Wolfenstein II: The New Order. MachineGames, who helmed the previous two games in the rebooted franchise are handling development duties and it looks like they’re not holding back.
The trailer that we were shown quickly flicked through many vignettes – but what we do know that this is a sequel to The New Order and that BJ Blazkowicz returns to stage a new American revolution.
The game will be set in 1961 and most of the action will take place prominently in the Americas, a far cry from the setting of the original game. As we hoped, Frau Engel will be reappearing in all her villainous glory.
Fun fact: The New Colossus is a piece of poetry by Emma Lazarus that is inscribed on the pedestal that the Statue of Liberty stands on. Could we be visiting New York in the new Wolfenstein?
The reveal trailer as seen at the press conference is below:
It’s so great to see BJ Blazkowicz back. His dry, introspective monologues were such an integral part of The New Order’s tone so I’m happy to see him return.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus releases 27th October 2017 for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.
