Darksiders Is Getting A Strife-Led Spin-Off Called Genesis

In a piece of news that slipped under the radar yesterday, THQ Nordic announced that their Darksiders series is set to drift into uncharted territory and in a different direction.

Darksiders: Genesis is a spin-off that’s set before the original game and is a co-op, top-down hack and slash game that looks like it could be a sibling to Diablo. It features Strife, the last remaining Horseman of the Apocalypse, and is developed by Airship Syndicate, a studio helmed by ex-Vigil developers.

The game’s description is as follows:

In Darksiders Genesis, the fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse STRIFE is called upon to save humankind from certain destruction at the hands of Lucifer. True to its roots, Darksiders Genesis will feature intense combat, exploration, puzzle-solving, epic boss battles and serpent holes from heaven to hell. The game marks the first, full-scale Darksiders adventure played from the top-down perspective.

It’s exciting that the property is back in the hands of some of the original Darksiders team, so we’re hoping for a return to form that might revitalise the series.
