You’re able to store up to 100 Mii’s on the device, including any you are wanting to transfer over onto your new device. The ‘start from scratch’ option is as it describes, starting from a blank slate, whilst ‘create from likeness’ allows you to start from a seemingly randomly generated pool of Miis according to a specific gender.
