Ever since Capcom announced that they would be giving their remake of the original Resident Evil the remaster treatment, some thought how they’d pull it off given the nature of the game. Thankfully, today, we have the first proper footage from the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.
While the footage doesn’t really show off anything new (it is a Remaster, after all) there are some obvious improvements – specifically the lighting – which really enhances the game’s atmosphere.
Players with a keen eye will notice that the original game was presented and developed for a 4:3 aspect ratio, but the remaster will utilise a pan and scan rendering method to display at 16:9. For purists, both modes will be available for selection.
Resident Evil HD Remaster will be releasing digitally for Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3, Playstation 4 and PC sometime in early 2015.
In Japan, the game will come as a physical copy for Playstation 3 only, in November this year.
No plans for a physical release have been announced or are planned for other versions, or outside of Japan.
