Nintendo reveals new lines of Amiibo, including Woolly Yoshi

In a recent Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed their future plans for their Amiibo line of Toys-To-Life figurines.

First off, on May 29th, Amiibo collectors will be able to get their hands on Jigglypuff and Greninja figurines. Thus far, they’ll only be compatible with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.

Coming in June, Nintendo will be giving Zero Suit Samus, Palutena, Dark Pit and Ganondorf the Amiibo treatment. Then in July, Nintendo will release Olimar, Dr. Mario and Bowser Jr. Figurines.

In a somewhat bizarre twist, Nintendo also revealed new Amiibo lines for Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, Splatoon and Yoshi’s Woolly World. All will be released with their respective games later this year.

Of particular note are the Animal Crossing amiibo, which come in the form of cards and will unlock characters and items in the newly announced Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer game. It is unknown how these cards will be distributed.

Splatoon Amiibo come in three forms – the Girl Inkling, the Boy Inkling and the Green Squid inkling, the latter of which is exclusive to a retail triple pack. They’ll unlock new missions and weapons in the Splatoon game when it releases at the end of May.

Finally, the Yoshis’s Woolly World Amiibo are made of real wool and will unlock a second computer controlled Yoshi in the game, who will assist players on their adventures. For those looking to get everything they need out of one purchase, a bundle with a Green Yarn Yoshi Amiibo packaged in was also announced.
