Sony have revealed in their investor’s report that they have shipped 40 million PS4s worldwide. Overall, the PlayStation division is up 11.8% year-on-year. Sony also revealed that the PS4 has sold beyond their forecasts.
To put this into perspective, the PS2 had shipped about 37 million units at this point in its lifecycle whilst the PS3 had only shipped about 20 million units. The Wii was well ahead at 50million units. Whilst Microsoft no longer release sales data, it’s estimated that around 20m Xbox Ones have shipped in this time.
