West Ham have just announced that they’ve signed eSports player Sean Allen to represent the club. This makes them the first sporting club in the UK to sign a professional video game competitor.
Allen is better known as his gaming name Dragonn and will represent the West Ham Hammers at FIFA video game tournaments. He will do so by wearing a West Ham jumper with the number 50.Allen took out the runner-up position at this year’s FIFA Interactive World Cup taking out $27,000 AUD in prize money.
West Ham boss Slaven Bilic had the below to say about the singing:
“This is a big move for West Ham United. I have heard that Sean is a big player in the esports arena so I am delighted we have managed to secure his services. I hope he can now go on to represent the club with pride across the globe – he will certainly have the support of all the lads whenever he dons the claret and blue.”
