Activision has revealed in their shareholders report that Skylanders will not be getting a new game on consoles in 2017. Instead, the company will opt to release more content for Skylanders: Imaginators.
They have also said that they will release a new Skylanders mobile game.
This marks the first time in six years that we won’t see a brand new Skylanders bundle release for consoles and it’s a sure sign that the toys-to-life market is slowing down.
Last year, Disney Infinity closed its doors after three years, but according to WB, LEGO Dimensions is still going strong with the plan to release more content this year.
Recently, it was confirmed that Skylanders would return for another season on Netflix, so it’s clear that the franchise still resonates with kids.
