In the most unexpected news I’ve read today, Variety has reported that Vince Gilligan, the mind behind Breaking Bad, is teaming up with Sony’s PlayStation division to create a non-gaming, virtual reality experience based on the critically acclaimed series.
Details so far are rather scarce, so the nature of the project and who might be attached to star is unknown at this stage. But it’s certainly an exciting prospect to think that the misdeeds of Walter White might carry on into this crazy new format.
No release window was given either, it’s only confirmed that it won’t come out this year. It’s early days yet, but if creatives like Gilligan can craft some compelling stories using virtual-reality, it might cement a purpose for it beyond simple gaming.
