Skate 4 Has Been Listed By A Retailer, So Please Be Real

Since the last installment of EA’s beloved Skate franchise, Skate 3 – which was released way back in 2010 –  there have been rumours of a “Skate 4” plaguing the internet in various forms. There’s been more passionate campaigns in demand of the game (most famously lead by legendary Steve Berra of The Berrics) and more hype than you can tre flip over!

While absolutely none of the rumours thus far have been officially confirmed by EA, it’s worth mentioning that just recently, Swedish retailer, Webhallen, has listed Skate 4 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for pre-order on their website, expected to release in 2019. The game is listed for 599 kr which is equivalent to around AUD$95, seemingly the average RRP for brand new video games on the Webhallen e-store.

The cover art provided by the website does look just a little better than the average placeholder graphic but still, it doesn’t look quite finished yet. The cover art in the Skate series has always been fairly minimalistic but the unusual sizing of the “4” in the title and the simple trucks and wheels design leaves much to be desired. Only time will tell whether this graphic was slapped together by the folk over at Webhallen or whether we’ll see the design on shelves sometime next year.

In 2019, it’ll be the 10 year anniversary of the Skate franchise, so perhaps EA have been holding out on us for the purpose of celebrating a decade of perfecting our Hall of Meat slams, making the best out of goofy glitches and eye-rolling at Giovanni Reda terrible jokes.
