Overnight, Square Enix released a small clip showing off NieR: Re[in]carnation, the upcoming NieR game being developed for smartphones they announced a few weeks ago.
The video doesn’t show us a whole lot by way of combat, but it does a good job of demonstrating how the player movement might work all the while showing off a beautiful setting and graphics that appear to hold up pretty well for iOS and Android. Seems they’re doing a fine job of capturing the NieR experience, from those sweeping camera pans over the destruction of the post-apocalyptic landscape to the soundtrack.
Though it’s indicative of a work in progress, one which we don’t have a release date for yet, it looks great. The smartphone game was initially revealed alongside a remade version of NieR Replicant, which is expected to launch on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
