Australia Has Been Named The Official Partner Country Of Gamescom 2022

A huge win for our local games industry

Australia has been announced as the official partner country for this year’s gamescom 2022 event, which also marks a return to an in-person expo in Cologne, Germany.

In a press release, organizer Koelnmesse GmbH reveals that it has signed a partnership agreement between itself, the German games industry association and ANZ’s Interactive Games & Entertainment Association (‘IGEA’).

It comes off the back of the Australian government recently committing to implementing a major tax offset for local video game development, putting us in a great position to showcase the nation’s top talent and host gamescom’s biggest joint Australian booth. Hon Paul Fletcher MP, Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities and the Arts said, “Australia’s partnership with gamescom 2022 is further evidence that we can punch above our weight in this $250 billion global industry.”
