EA and Dice have announced that, alongside its huge Season 3 update, the turbulent-but-plucky Battlefield 2042 is coming to EA Access subscribers, and therefore also to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
In a blog post on the official website, Dice’s Community Lead walks fans through what to expect from the embattled game’s third season and 3.1/3.2 updates, which will drop during the season. Plans include a new specialist and map, new weapons, the reintroduction of classes, map reworks and more. You can see most of the planned changes and additions in the detailed video below:
Before all of this happens, Battlefield 2042 will also be getting a limited-time free trial on all platforms during the below windows:
- On Xbox, from December 1, 7:01 PM AEDT through December 5, 6:59 PM AEDT.
- On Steam, from December 2, 5 AM AEDT through December 6, 5 AM AEDT.
- On PlayStation, from December 17, 3 AM AEDT through December 24, 3 AM AEDT.
Although it’s struggled to find an audience, we were quite keen on Battlefield 2042 on release, scoring it an 8.5/10 and saying, “It’s not without its issues, but Battlefield 2042 is off to a fantastic start for DICE’s beloved series. All-Out Warfare modes are immersive, Hazard Zone is enjoyable while Battlefield Portal steals the show. There’s a lot to love here, and I’m excited to see where the game goes.”
