What games have Aussie and New Zealand players been picking up most in recent weeks? That’s the question we’re answering every Monday with thanks to the weekly Top 10 ANZ Games Charts from the folks over at the Interactive Games & Entertainment Association (IGEA).
The latest report, which comes from the week ending May 5th, 2024, saw a very expected uptick in Star Wars-related games thanks to the yearly “May the Fourth” celebrations. Curiously, the biggest winner was 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, with the 2023 sequel nowhere in sight. Presumably it, like the rest of the Star Wars games that reached the Top 10 charts in the reported period, was heavily discounted to capitalise on the week.
Elsewhere, Mass Effect’s Legendary Edition re-release also rocketed up the ladder to find a #3 and #2 spot in Australian and New Zealand, respectively. Again, it’s quite likely this was also a result of sales activity and perhaps even some adjacence to “people in space who more than likely bone the aliens at one point or another.” Outside of this, it’s mostly what you’d expect with a bit of GTA V, Rainbow Six Siege, Helldivers 2 and Stellar Blade filling out the ranks. Kudos to our friends in NZ for getting around Command & Conquer: Generals, though.
