FromSoftware has revealed that Elden Ring has now moved over 25 million units since launching in February 2022, a number that arrives on the cusp of the release of its hugely-anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree DLC expansion.
In that time, the game has garnered huge praise from critics and players, won multiple Game of the Year Awards and sat proudly at an incredible 96 on Metacritic.
“We have come a long way together. We are ever thankful for your passion and support,” writes the official Elden Ring X account along with the sales milestone announcement.

We scored Elden Ring a huge 9.5/10 in our original review in 2022, with Harry saying, “While it feels like the impact of Breath of the Wild is waning as the open world genre starts to stagnate again, Elden Ring stands out as not only an achievement in FromSoftware’s hall of fame, but also as an open-world RPG. Elden Ring is without a doubt, FromSoft’s most ambitious undertaking yet, and like Dark Souls before it, I believe it will leave a permanent mark on both the open-world genre and the games industry in general.”
We recently got our hands on a few hours of Shadow of the Erdtree, with James writing, “For now, as if there were any doubt, just know that Shadow of the Erdtree is decadent, mean, and perhaps most importantly, it’s more Elden Ring.”
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree launches on June 21st and you can pre-order a physical copy including the base game here.
