Update: As promised, Activision and Treyarch have now dropped the very first “gameplay” trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s hugely-anticipated Zombies mode, along with a heap of new information.
The video introduces us to one of the two launch maps, Terminus Island, which the lengthier blog post calls “one of the largest round-based zombies maps ever created” and will be freely explorable during the mode’s round-based gameplay, housing a Main Quest along with plenty of hidden secrets and objectives.
The post is incredibly detailed, going in-depth into just about everything you would want to know about the Zombies mode in Black Ops 6 from structure, to mechanics, gear, currencies and everything in-between, so read it all right here after you check out the trailer below:
Original Story: Activision and Treyarch have dropped the first trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s hugely-anticipated Zombies mode.
It’s a purely cinematic trailer, taking us to the outpost of Terminus and re-introducing the likes of Grigori Weaver, Mackenzie “Mac” Carver, Elizabeth Grey, Oskar Strauss, and Stoney Maddox in the mode’s return to the Dark Aether storyline. And look, admittedly I’ve been off the COD train for some time and missed a lot of the context here, but one look at the comments for this trailer on YouTube shows that people are excited about what’s on display here, so they must be getting something right. A deeper look into Zombies is also coming on Friday, August 9th at 1AM AEST.
As we found out in our earlier preview, Zombies in Black Ops 6 is returning to a round-based format and will have 2 all-new maps players can jump into. “The first is Liberty Falls: Dark Aether Incursion, a small town with 90s elements sprinkled throughout. It’s a classic “fight a horde of zombies in an old town” type map that boasts a bright and sunny disposition,” wrote Jake in his preview piece. “And then there’s Terminus: Blacksite 13 – the complete opposite to Liberty Falls, full of dark and moody vibes, rain, thunder… just straight up evil zombie threat sorta feels.”

A blog post on the official Call of Duty blog goes into a bit of detail around what to expect, narratively, reading:
“After two years battling undead outbreaks across the globe during the Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War timeline, the CIA-led Requiem team finally succeeded in closing the last remaining dimensional portal, banishing its denizens back to the nightmarish hellscape known as the Dark Aether.
“However, the team’s success came at a heavy price. Agent Samantha Maxis sacrificed herself to essentially seal this twisted dimension from the inside. Worse was to follow, as Requiem’s senior staff members were unceremoniously arrested on the orders of the Project Director—finally revealed to be none other than Edward Richtofen.
“Taking place over half a decade later, Black Ops 6 Zombies continues the Dark Aether storyline, exploring the fortunes of key characters while also delving further into Richtofen’s motivations and goals.”
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches on October 25th, with pre-orders available now on Amazon for $89.
