Pokemon fans in China will definitely be waiting a while longer for Pokemon GO to hit.
Reuters is reporting that China’s State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television has elected not to license Pokemon GO and other AR peers until it has properly evaluated the risks.
In their words, Pokemon GO could “potentially present a threat to geographical information security”.
Pokemon GO has constantly come under scrutiny as Chinese developers have begun creating similar AR games, which is why they’re taking the matter so seriously.
It looks unlikely that Chinese authorities will find in favour of Pokemon GO, with apps such as Google Maps even being banned from being downloadable.
