As Nintendo had previously suggested, it looks like the Nintendo Switch will in-fact support voice chat via smartphones and other smart devices.
In a blurb about Splatoon 2, Nintendo stated the below:
“Splatoon 2 in particular will offer voice chat, a much-requested feature from our overseas fans, using smart-devices”.
Nintendo also confirmed that the game would support 8-player local multiplayer with 8 different Nintendo Switch devices.
Splatoon 2 is scheduled for release in Winter, 2017.
