SEGA has announced that Sonic the Hedgehog fans will have to wait a little bit longer for the newest 3D adventure (and potentially the first good Sonic game in many, many years).
Sonic Mania will now release in the Winter time. It was previously in the Autumn release window. It will release on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Windows PC. Nintendo Switch owners will be happy to know that it will release day one on the console and it will also be the same price.
Today, SEGA also released a brand new gameplay trailer showcasing Flying Battery Zone. The level previously appeared in Sonic & Knuckles as well as Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles.
Honestly, we’re not kidding when we say that this is the best chance that a Sonic game has at genuinely being good in a long time. It seems to retain the classic qualities of the older Sonic games, whilst looking hip and fresh.
Sonic Mania is being developed by Headcannon and PagodaWest Games. Australian Christian Whitehead is also working on the game.
