It’s very clear that the Nintendo Switch has a very successful start all around the world with both the concept of the console and Breath of the Wild standing out to gamers.
The Senior Director of Merchandising, Eric Bright has said the the Nintendo Switch could potentially outsell the Wii if the momentum continues.
“The Nintendo Switch is off to a start right now that it could possibly eclipse the Wii. Initial sales on this have been phenomenal. I can’t give straight numbers, but I can say we’re seeing one of the highest attach rates of software and accessories to a device that we’ve seen in a long time.” said Bright.
Whilst the Nintendo Switch has had an amazing start, the real battle will come in the next 6-12 months. We all know that the Nintendo Wii really took off in the first holiday season and was literally the hottest item on the market. If the Nintendo Switch can drive demand once more software release, it could definitely do well.
One thing is for certain, it’s on track to do better than the Nintendo Wii U which would have been Nintendo’s main objective.
