Yep, it’s true. Due to the fact that the Nintendo Switch doesn’t have a universal invite system (like PS4 and Xbox One), there is currently no way to play friends online in FIFA 18 on Nintendo Switch.
You can play seasons against random players, and EA have also implemented Local Seasons which is essentially playing against people that are in the vicinity of you, but as far as I can tell, there is currently no way to send an invite or play against a friend online in FIFA 18 on Nintendo Switch.
So, this is a big one for me personally. It’s a real shame too. As we’ll tell you in the next few days, FIFA 18 on Nintendo Switch is far better than it has any right to be. The visuals are silky smooth and the gameplay translates surprisingly well over to the Switch control scheme.
Whilst many people could overlook no Frostbite (barely noticeable) as well as the missing Journey single-player, playing your friends online is a crucial part of the FIFA experience.
