After revealing its existence last September, Square Enix has finally put a date on the PC version of 2023’s acclaimed entry in the massive series, Final Fantasy XVI.
The epic adventure of “Eikonic” proportions is headed to personal computers via both Steam sand the Epic Games Store on September 17th (18th AEST), and will be available as both a standard version and a Complete Edition that also includes the two already-released DLC expansions, Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide.
On top of that, and with pre-purchase available now, a demo of the PC version has also arrived. The demo gives players access to the opening prologue of the game, with roughly a couple of hours of content to play through, plus a special “Eikonic Challenge” for players to try out a more frenzied fight with access to more of the later-unlocked Eikonic abilities.
The PC version of the game is also quite reasonably priced, at $74.95 for the base game or $104.95 for the Compete Edition with the two expansions. You can find the game for pre-purchase, as well as the free demo, at the links below:

And lastly, it wouldn’t be a Final Fantasy XVI announcement without a suitably epic trailer:
Harry gave Final Fantasy XVI a huge 9/10 in his review when it launched on PS5 last year, saying, “Final Fantasy XVI is an epic in every sense of the word. Consistently sharp writing, a captivating cast of characters, exhilarating combat, and a timeless soundtrack coalesce into an experience that showcases what the PlayStation 5 is capable of at the highest level. It constantly finds ways to top its own scale in remarkable fashion, but never loses sight of the intimate journey its built around.”
The second expansion, The Rising Tide, is similarly praiseworthy, with my review having said, “The Rising Tide is exactly what a Final Fantasy XVI DLC expansion should be. It’s got a beautiful, mysterious new region to explore, an engaging questline with great new characters, hugely satisfying new additions to combat and plenty of extra challenge for those ready to seek it out. It doesn’t do much to fix the main game’s few flaws, but what’s here is some of the most compelling and exciting content in the entire game.”
