No Man’s Sky Won’t Require PlayStation Plus

Sony has officially confirmed that No Man’s Sky’s only features won’t require PlayStation Plus in order to function. Game Informer editor David Milner reached out to Sony, who confirmed that “PS Plus won’t be a requirement to play online, however you will need to connect to the internet for your discoveries to register with the universal atlas.”

Deeming that most of No Man’s Sky online features were more single-player focussed, the company decided to lift the PlayStation Plus requirement for Hello Games’ upcoming interstellar adventure. Players will be able to record their travels using the Atlas, though the chance you’ll ever come across another player will be quite unlikely due to the vastness of this endless shared universe.

No Man’s Sky hits PlayStation 4 August 1oth.
