PlayStation VR Is Currently Ruling The VR Market

PlayStation VR was the last major piece of hardware in the VR space to release, but it’s already got quite a significant stranglehold over the VR market.

A report by VentureBeat is estimating that Sony’s current market share sits at somewhere around 30%. For comparative sake, Oculus Rift is sitting somewhere around 11% with the HTC Vive sitting at 6%.

The report takes into account sales based on over 30 companies and 40 products around the world.

The most surprising fact is that cheaper, popular alternatives such as Google Cardboard have a share of only 8%.

It’ll be interesting to see if the PlayStation VR’s success continues into the new year, and if Sony can keep the flow of games coming in.

Thanks, VentureBeat.
