December is arguably the biggest month of the year in the gaming industry and one that industry analysts keep a keen eye on.
In the US, the Xbox One had its best month ever in terms of sales. It was also the only console to see a year-on-year increase in sales.
Unfortunately though, this still wasn’t enough to beat the PlayStation 4, which was the top-selling console in the busy Christmas period. Similarly, the PS4 was also the best selling console of 2016.
Last week, Sony announced that they had sold 6.2 million PlayStation 4s through the holiday period, taking the total to 53.4 units sold worldwide. Similarly, Uncharted 4 has also sold incredibly well selling 8.7 million copies globally to date.
Interestingly, the Xbox One has not outsold the original Xbox in the US.

Fun Fact of the day.
The Xbox One has now outsold the original Xbox in the U.S.
It's also tracking ahead of the Xbox 360 when aligned.
