Belgium’s Gaming Commission announced last week that it would launch an investigation into loot boxes being available for purchase in games such as Battlefront II and Overwatch.
The Minister of Justice has now revealed that “the mixing of money and addiction is considered gambling”. This is especially so for those of a young age, according to the Minister and can be bad for mental health of the child.
The Minister has gone one step further to say that he wants to “ban in-game purchases out right and not just in Belgium”. He has said that his process will take time but that he will certainly try to get it banned.
