Just when you thought Fortnote couldn’t get any bigger, Epic Games has revealed that Fortnite is getting an Avengers: Infinity War crossover.

The crossover will introduce a new limited time mode called Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup which will introduce none other than Thanos. The game will reportedly work as normal with 100 people dropping as people try to collect the Infinity Gauntlet which will contain all six Infinity Stones. You’ll then literally turn into Thanos and have a huge boost of power. It’s unknown yet what happens if you’re killed as Thanos. Does the Gauntlet then return to the map, or is it a once per game thing?

Infinity War Directors Joe and Anthony Russo have spoken a little bit about how the crossover came together to Entertainment Weekly:

“Out of the blue, I get this call from Joe. And after a bit of geeking out over each other’s work, we start brainstorming these crazy ideas,” Mustard recalled. “It was really important that whatever we did, it had to be super authentic to both Fortnite and the Avengers: Infinity War, and something that fans of both would be excited about. About an hour later, we had the bones of this awesome idea for a limited time gameplay mode, and almost immediately our team got started.”

The update is coming for free to PS4, Xbox One, PC and iOS at some point today. It definitely becomes interesting in terms of seeing what other partnerships Epic Games could work on for further events. This is something that we haven’t seen in the likes of PUB G and other free-to-play games, but with Fortnite being the biggest game in the world at the moment, it makes sense that other companies would want in on the success.

Maybe, Nintendo could introduce their own characters in a Switch exclusive version after all?
