EA Has Begun (Officially) Teasing The New Need For Speed Game

We’ve known for some time now that a new Need For Speed game is coming this year, but EA has been pretty quiet about it all. Until now.

The countdown found at NeedForSpeed.com is rather ominous but points to a reveal on August 14th, with a presumable full blowout of information when GamesCom begins on the 20th August next week.

What do we know about this new game? Not a whole lot, but we do know that Ghost Games will be behind the new title, continuing on the franchise since they took over with Need for Speed Rivals in 2013. They’ve kept most of their plans under wrap, but a post made to Reddit two months ago may shed some light on their focus for the new game:

Cars naturally top the list. You could say that the cars and customization of NFS are the beating heart of what we do. Without either of these, NFS fails to exist as we know it. These two elements play a pivotal role in the series and are two aspects that we consider to be foundational, meaning they aren’t going anywhere because NFS wouldn’t exist without them.

The new Need for Speed will launch before the end of March 2020, but it’s probable that we’ll see it this year.

More as it develops.
