The New PS5 System Update Finally Fixes The Annoying PS4 Disc Bug

Sony just dropped PS5 software update 20.02-02.55.00 (we’ll never get used to those NEW names) has just dropped and as well as providing more stable system performance, it also fixes an annoying bug.

A common complaint since the PS4 launched is that when you’d upgrade from a PS4 disc to a PS5 version of the game, the console would still try and install the PS4 version every time you’d turn your console on.

This has now been fixed with the latest update, so you shouldn’t double up on games anymore, once you’ve done the initial install and upgraded to the PS5 version of a game.

PS5 20.02-02.55.00 SYSTEM UPDATE NOTES:

  • The following issue was resolved: The PS4 version of the game was sometimes installed from the PS4 game disc even after upgrading the disc version of a PS4 game to the PS5 version
  • The system software update improves system performance
