The Developers Of Snipperclips Are Making A PSX-Style Horror Game

Well, stone the flamin' crows!

SFB Games, the award-winning studio behind the Nintendo Switch launch title, Snipperclips: Cut It Out, Together! and the fantastic point-and-click adventure Tangle Tower, has revealed its next big title and it’s a bit of a departure from what you’d expect.

Crow Country is a survival horror experience that sees players take on the role of Mara Forest as she navigates an abandoned theme park in search of its owner, Edward Crow. It’s a retro-flavoured joint that’s heavily inspired by the PSX-era of survival horror with its isometric camera, low-poly visuals, inventory management and esoteric puzzles. It’s kind of a mix of the original Resident Evil and Five Nights at Freddy’s, which is an exciting concept.

For those who dig the aesthetic but aren’t keen on the punishing design of old-school survival horror, there will also be an “Exploration Mode” that’ll allow them to play without the fear of being attacked.

Best of all, there’s a free demo available right now on Steam and the PlayStation Store so you can check out Crow Country for yourself ahead of its release some time in 2024. Alternatively, pop a squiz at the trailer below:

A Survival Horror adventure featuring: A rich atmosphere. A strong, tangible sense of place. A small but memorable cast of characters. Meaningful exploration. Engaging puzzles. And most of all – a beautiful, uncanny blend of tension and tranquillity.

The year is 1990. Edward Crow has disappeared. The owner of ‘Crow Country’ (a small theme park in the rural outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia), he has not been seen since he unexpectedly shut down his park two years ago. The silence is broken when a mysterious young woman named Mara Forest ventures into the heart of the abandoned theme park in order to find him.

• Why did Crow really shut down his park?
• Are the disturbing rumours about Crow Country true?
• Who, exactly, is Mara Forest?
