Not to be outdone by Samsung and LG, Sony has today unveiled its most diverse TV line-up to date. It includes some standard OLED models (including a new A90 42″ and 48″ OLED), but the standouts are definitely the first QD-OLED as well as the introduction of Mini LED technology to improve its LCD range.

The new flagship model is the A95K which utilises Samsung’s QD-OLED technology (Samsung is also releasing a QD-OLED TV). This will be available in 65″ and 55″ models and is said to increase brightness by around 200% whilst still retaining the same blacks that OLED is known for.
Much like Samsung and LG did last year, Sony is now moving its LED technology to Mini LED which means that the new X95K 4K model will now use Mini LED technology for a brighter picture and better contrast. The X95 will be available in 85″, 75″ and 65″. Samsung will still release its very popular X90K in 85″, 75″, 65″ and 55″ but it won’t utilise Mini LED technology.
Sony is finally leaning into the fact that it creates a popular gaming console as well as TVs with the fact that all 2022 Bravia TVs will be ‘Perfect for PS5’ which includes Auto HDR tone mapping and Auto Genre Picture mode. Sony has also partnered with Netflix to create a new Adaptive Calibrated Mode which will automatically adjust image processing based on ambient light, to show these shows/movies in the way that the creator intended.
Sony is also releasing a camera called Bravia Cam that can go on your TV to fine tune your image based on your viewing environment. As always, it’s expected that these TVs will start hitting out Aussie shores in the middle of the year.
