After Microsoft announced their new Smart Delivery feature along with a bunch of other features for Xbox Series X, we were wondering how many third-party games would be coming to the service.
For those unaware, the Smart Delivery feature allows players who have purchased a game on Xbox One, to be able to play the upgraded Xbox Series X version of the game on the newer console.
Of course, we already learned that Halo Infinite would be a part of the Smart Delivery feature upon launch and now we know that Cyberpunk 2077 will also be a participating game.
Gamers should never be forced to purchase the same game twice or pay for upgrades. Owners of #Cyberpunk2077 for Xbox One will receive the Xbox Series X upgrade for free when available. https://t.co/nfkfFLj85w

This is great news for those who are planning on getting Cyberpunk 2077 on September 17th for the Xbox One, knowing they’ll be able to play the game on the Xbox Series X if they upgrade to the console.
This is a shift from what we saw in the last generational gap between the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One, where gamers had to purchase games on each console in order to play it across systems. Even when the Xbox One eventually made Xbox 360 games compatible for the console, gamers were still playing the Xbox 360 versions of those titles.
We’re still not sure if Sony will be bringing a similar feature to the Playstation 5, with many details about the console still unknown. Hopefully we see more publishers get on board the Smart Delivery feature and gamers can enjoy all their favourite games across different systems.
