I know a lot of people hate it, but April Fools is one of my favourite days of the year. A time when nobody on the internet takes themselves too seriously.
At Press Start, we always like to take part in the fun, preciously with our Crash Bandicoot gag (which we totally believe inspired a Crash come back) and then last year with Pokemon GO snap.
Here’s some of our favourites from 2018, which is seeing more April Fools’ gags than ever.
We couldn’t make a list without including our very own. Honestly, the whole team is obsessed with Fortnite at the moment and the one thing we want is Fortnite on Switch, so we thought why not bring it over with a few twists.
A lot of people were surprised when Nintendo got rid of Miiverse. Vooks has hilarious brought it back for the Switch, appropriately titled ‘Switchverse’.
This one landed in my inbox this morning and was definitely clever. If you thought the Pokémon GO fad was so 2016, you’re obviously wrong, with Square Enix bringing it to the land of Final Fantasy GO.
EB Games is advertising for an associate meme creator on all of its social platforms. Now this one could be real, as EB do love their memes, but we’re putting this one down to another gag.
Another one of my favourites, and quite frankly I’m surprised this doesn’t exist. PlayStation Asia have mocked up a PlayStation board game complete with little figures and cards.
This is another great one. Rocket League is crazy at the best of times but these ginormous toppers are set to make it even crazier. It’s unclear if these will stick around or not so definitely jump on.
This is one of those ones that are made for April Fools, but Niantic has actually incorporated it into the game. Once again it’s unclear if it’s today only, but it definitely looks good.
The Dragon Ball Z game website has been made over to exclusively feature Android 17 (the best DBZ character). This is a super creative one and worth a browse.
Ubisoft has changed all the U-PLAY screens to include weird Watch Dogs hacking terminals. Could this be a hint at a new Watch Dogs game or just a cheeky little play on a brand?
