It’s the first State of Play for the year, and PlayStation look to be bringing the goods.
One of the longest State of Plays ever, the 40 minute show was jam-packed with announcements.
So, without further adieu, here’s what PlayStation announced at the February 2025 State of Play.
It builds on all the concepts that were introduced in Returnal and sees you exploring a planet besieged by an ominous eclipse. It’s called SAROS and it’s out in 2026.
Somebody will be happy with this. There’s a bunch of new features like photo, speedrun, permadeath and horde modes too. It’s out on April 25th 2025.
It’s looking mighty fine, and has you playing as Miyamoto Musashi which is especially cool. It’s still on track for a 2026 release.
The game is a batshit-looking action game where you have to embark on a journey to save your sister from an ominous threat. It’s been a long time coming – first revealed in 2016. But now, we can finally play it when it comes to PlayStation 5 on May 30th.
I’ve seen about seventy of these now so I’m ready for it to just come out now. But it’s looking like a huge improvement over World and that’s really all you can ask for. Capcom doesn’t miss often and that looks to be the case here too. It’s still on track for a release in just over two weeks on February 28th 2025.
The game employs a slick as hell art style and looks to feature the same fast and frenetic gameplay that the series has come to be known for across it’s many iterations. It’s being made by the same team who made Streets of Rage 4. It’s called Shinobi: Art of Vengeance and it’s out on August 29th later this year.
Revealed very slyly at The Game Awards last year, the gameplay trailer showcases a whole bunch of characters and locations and the game’s main gimmick. You can race through portals which changes dimensions. VERY dynamic. It’s not got a release date yet, but it is called Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
The game is a traditional Japanese RPG that has you moving across worlds but also time. You’ll be able to jump between the human and Digital world too. It’s out in 2025, but no concrete release date was confirmed.
The newest Like A Dragon game is getting a demo, but more interestingly, there’s a new DLC for Dave The Diver, centered around Ichiban’s holiday. The DLC is out in April, while the newest game is out later this month.
A new trailer highlighted what’s new and also that a dedicated State of Play would be coming later to further detail what’s new in the sequel. The release date was confirmed too – you’ll be able to play Borderlands 4 on September 23rd 2025.
I was already in, but this looks great too. If you liked It Takes Two, this is the game for you. It’s still on track for it’s March release.
Announced a long, long time ago. At least it feels like it. The game is called Directive 8020 and takes things to space. It’s out on October 2nd.
BIG DAY for your favourite twelve year old. It’s called Secret of the Mimic and it’s out in June.
I already told you everything that I knew in the headline, sorry. It’s out in May.
I have no idea what this is but it looks really cool. You play as an Octopus who gets stuck in a food processing plant, but must escape. It’s called Darwin’s Paradox.
It’s called Warriors: Abyss and it’s releasing TODAY. Wow.
That was quick. Easily the best of the older Onimusha games, you’ll be able to play it on May 23rd.
It’s an action-adventure game set in a wartorn country. It’s out on September 4th 2025.
The trailer has lots of British people whispering and some high octane action. Everything you want from a soulslike. It’s called Lies of P: Overture and it’s out in 2025.
It’s called Dreams of Another and uses a funky cloud rendering technique to employ a new fuzzy art style. I love the vibe. It’s out at some point, we don’t have a date yet.
Mmm. It’s out June 2025.
The game is a genre-shifting adventure that has you exploring a mansion of 45 shifting rooms in search of……the 46th room. It sounds intriguing enough.
It’s called Abiotic Factor and 1-6 players and it’s coming to PlayStation Plus too.
The game looks to merge the world of modern London with medieval fantasy with a combat system like no other.
It looks like a cybernetic sci-fi take on DOOM. It’s looking juicy. It’s out in May too.
It’s called MindsEye and it kind of looks like an edgier, more dystopic take on the Grand Theft Auto formula. Maybe.
