Activision and Treyarch invited us to COD NEXT in Las Vegas to spend some time with the game, chat with the team and learn about everything coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

Call of Duty: Warzone is getting a new wave of updates and additions with the launch of Black Ops 7. From new maps, POI updates on Verdansk, weaponry and loot changes, as well as movement tweaks, it’s sure to mix things up for Warzone players in exciting and fresh new ways.

Come the launch of Season 1, players will drop into the all new resurgence map, Haven’s Hollow – located in the heart of American Appalachia. In comparison, Haven’s Hollow is a little bit larger than Rebirth, and is set within the same location setting as Liberty Falls (pre-zombie outbreak). Players will be able to drop into new POIs such as Main Street, Train Station, Pond, Riverboat, Research Center, Lumber Mill and more, all featuring different environmental and tactical elements to get the jump on enemies as well as suiting different play styles.

Verdansk is also getting some love in the BO7 update, with two new POI updates coming to the map. Players will be able to make their way to Factory and Signal Station, with Factory featuring improved landmarking as well as an interior makeover, and Signal Station receiving a whole new gameplay mechanic. At Signal Station, players will be able to activate the station to receive a visual update and ping on their tac maps – showcasing where on the map enemies in lower or higher density. Potentially aiding squads or solo players in times of sheer domination or tactical avoidance.

A whole range of gameplay updates are also coming to Warzone. Weapons have been reworked for Warzone with only 5 attachments allowed on weapons as well as a ‘no attachments’ golden path for those looking for a challenge to progression. Attachments will also work differently in Warzone than they do in Multiplayer modes in the way to their specs – this will keep gameplay dynamic across the two game modes. Loadouts have also been tweaked in the way of wildcards being removed and overkill being set as the default perk.

Ground loot in Warzone is also getting a rework with stronger and linear rarity progression, more consistent ground loot builds as well as seasonal ground loot themes, which sounds like a tonne of fun! For example, a seasonal may have more of a stealth theme too it, which means player may find more ground loot with things like suppressors attached to them.

Movement is another area that’s being improved and changed. Tactical Sprint will now only be available via players selecting the new Sprinter Perk. With this change, the baseline sprint has been improved to compensate. Combat Roll will be a new movement addition for players which can be preformed when the Mountaineer Perk is a part of a players loadout. Combat Roll will allow players to perform what the name suggests when fulling from increased heights, allowing those that may not survive such clumsy mistakes, I mean total accidents, to survive.

Players will also find new equipment items such as the Needle Drone, Psych Grenade and Echo Unit, which is reminiscent of the Inflatable Decoy much future tech’d and copies the player’s operator movements. Players will also find that some equipment items they’ve grown to perhaps love have been removed, such as throwing knives, proximity alarms and portable radars to name a few.

All in all, the new and tweaked elements to Warzone are with the intention to bring more dynamic, fresh and creative ways for gamers to play the mode and add an additional layer of player agency to fit a variety of play styles.

For Call Of Duty fans eager to jump into the Black Ops 7 experience, the Black Ops 7 Beta Early Access runs from October 2-5 and is available to all players who have pre-ordered, have an early access code, or are subscribed to select Xbox Game Pass plans, with the Open Beta running from October 5-8.
