Some key stats around The Australian Games Awards have now been revealed.
Over 10,650 people tuned into the official Twitch stream which lasted around two hours. The stream peaked at 1,523 viewers. Thousands more watched across community led restreams on both Twitch and Mixer.
The event’s hashtag, #TheAGAs peaked at the number one trending on Twitter, which is pretty impressive considering it was competing with the Big Bash League which has a massive viewership.
Red Dead Redemption 2 as well as Hollow Knight took out the respective Game of the Year and Australian Game Of The Year awards. You can find the full list of winners HERE.
The Organiser of the Australian Games Awards, Joel Van Daal confirmed that he would now turn attention to planning the 2019 event, with announcements to come early next year.
“We want to thank the community for their support throughout the awards process, from nominations to voting to the broadcast their time and opinions matter, and we thank them for it. We wanted to give the Australian Games Community their own voice, and they spoke loudly.” said Van Daal.
“Community is core to this event and we are listening to their feedback. We’re listening to all sources, big or small. We have built this event for the community, and we will continue to improve and refine it to best represent the Australian Gaming Culture.” continued Van Daal.
