April Fools Day is the most loved (or hated) day of the year. This year, I wasn’t expecting to see as many gags but there’s still quite a few. We had something planned (as we love doing something cheeky for April Fools Day, but decided not to run with it with everyone else going on this year).
In saying that, there’s a few clever gaming related ones out there this year and no doubt more will roll in over night.
At Codemasters, we’re always on the lookout for the next big thing when it comes to racing games. Over three decades of gaming, we’ve brought you realistic and thrilling experiences from almost all classes of racing. Almost. Turns out, that next big thing comes in the form of something rather… small. People: welcome to the world of DiRT Rollers – the official video game of marble racing.
This one is actually pretty damn cute. Capcom has created a Street Fighter puzzle game based around cats (Tiger King, anyone?).
Blizzard appear to have put some pretty hilarious googly eyes in Overwatch. Unclear if this will just be for the day or a longer term thing.
This is weird, and I almost wonder if this was a last minute pivot as Platinum Games didn’t want to announce their game in current times. Platinum Games had revealed that they’d be revealing four games, with the last reveal taking place today. Whilst the first three games were actual games, this last one was an elaborate prank, which seems pretty cruel to fans.
This is a fake fighting game set in the Tales series. Pretty clever nonetheless.
This is actually a pretty sick mode that i’d love to see in PlayerUnknown’s Battleground but it’s nothing more than a joke.
Look, this PS5 menu mockup is actually pretty cool.
I don’t think this one has come from PlayStation specifically, but a lot of people seem to be believing it.
Hal Lab created two different gays. One is a BoxBoy! fighting game with the other being the protagonist of the Bubble Bobble series being arrested.
This is some kind of Dragon Ball Z: Racing mode, which I actually wouldn’t be that opposed to.
Guessing this is a bit of a cheeky dig at ‘Pokemon: Sleep’. It’s a Dragon Quest game about walking around.
