Update 1/8: After months of waiting, these sets have all now launched across the LEGO online store and local retailers.
Here’s a look at each one and links to snap them up before they fly off shelves (and into my shopping trolley):
Original Story 2/5: In addition to the two new Animal Crossing LEGO sets revealed just a few days ago, LEGO has also unveiled even more video game-themed sets including new kits in the Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog lines.
The additions to the already-revealed Super Mario sets for August include three new base Peach, Luigi and Mario sets as well as Soda Jungle and Goomba’s Playground sets. The bigger three, which includes King Boo’s Haunted Mansion, were already announced to make a total of 8 new Super Mario LEGO kits coming on August 1st.
LEGO has confirmed at least one of the new Animal Crossing sets it teased earlier in the week will be dropping on August 1st as well with the 550-piece K.K.’s Concert at the Plaza set, which is sure to be a hit thanks to the appearance of the iconic K.K. Slider and the LEGO-fied version of one of the most memorable spots in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Lastly, the Sonic the Hedgehog line is getting three additional sets, including the very cool-looking Super Sonic vs. Egg Drillster set – though old-school Sonic fans might agree that Super Sonic is a touch OP for what is the very first boss in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Still, it’s pretty neat.
