Diablo turns 30 in 2026, and Blizzard is kicking off the Sanctuary celebrations nice and early.
To mark this legendary milestone, developers of current Diablo titles have come together to unveil a hefty chunk of what’s coming next for the franchise in the Diablo 30th Anniversary Spotlight, which you can watch below:
In a totally unprecedented move, developers revealed that not only are they introducing an all-new class to the Diablo franchise, but they’re launching this new class in Diablo IV, Diablo II: Resurrected and Diablo: Immortal.
In the upcoming final chapter of the Age of Hatred Saga, players will travel to the new region of Skovos for a climactic showdown with Mephisto, as the Prime Evil’s deception and corruption threaten to drown Sanctuary in malice.
To aid the Wanderer in this, Diablo IV is introducing the brand-new Warlock class with the Lord of Hatred expansion, launching on April 28 2026.
Diablo IV’s Warlock is a demon-summoning caster class, defined by shackles, chains, flames and destructive power designed to turn the wrath of Hell against itself and sure to delight heavy metal and horror fans alike.
According to Blizzard, Diablo fans will learn more about the new class in a Developer Update on Friday, March 6, at 9:00 am and we’ll make sure to share a link to watch it.
Playable on all platforms today, Diablo II: Resurrected has launched its first-ever unique paid DLC called Reign of the Warlock. Reign of the Warlock carves a place for the new class within the Diablo canon by weaving the Warlock’s origin story into the fabric of Diablo II, generally considered the most influential game in the franchise as well as one of the most beloved ARPGs of all time.
As if the new class weren’t enough, Reign of the Warlock also adds enhanced terror zones, new endgame content, and quality-of-life enhancements like loot filters to Diablo II: Resurrected.
Warlock is expected to arrive in the franchise’s mobile-first game, Diablo: Immortal, mid 2026, though we don’t have an official release date yet.
According to developers, Immortal’s Warlock opens portals to hell, summons demonic weapons from the Hellforge, and commands demons by channelling forbidden Vizjerei power, which was buried beneath Sanctuary long ago.
The Immortal Warlock weilds a demon skull in her right hand and a sacrificial blade in her left, allowing her to spew, slash holes in reality and summon tortured demons, shackled by her dominating powers.
One such demon is the Soulgorger, a monstrous beast that is powered by consuming the souls of other demons and absorbing their traits.
It’s been a massive month across the Blizzard universe. As the studio celebrates its 35th anniversary, fans have been treated to a wave of major reveals and meaningful updates for Diablo, Overwatch, and Hearthstone alike.
Developers from each flagship franchise have made it clear that the celebration doesn’t stop here, with even more planned for 2026 and beyond. If these recent Spotlight showcases are anything to go by, Blizzard’s next chapter is shaping up to be one hell of a ride.
